Jalan Jalan Japan Review
M3 Shopping Mall – 28th January 2023
This place is HUGE HUGE HUGE with a wide variety of goods, you could easily spend all day there going through all the stuff they have! Allow a full day if you want to go through everything they have. If you narrow down to one category e.g women’s clothing you could still easily spend 2 hours going through the racks they have. Definitely worth a visit and if you look long enough you definitely won’t leave empty handed.
ACCESSIBILITY & PARKING
Underground Parking is available and very affordable. I Paid 8 Ringett via Touch ’N’ Go and was there almost the entire day. Plenty of parks available it was easy to find a park on both weekday and weekend. You’ll experience a bit of traffic getting there but that’s typical for KL.
VARIETY
They have many categories of new and used goods from toys, clothing, shoes, crockery, glassware, crafts, sports and musical instruments, bicycles and much much more. A wide variety of baby items such as cots, carriers, strollers, highchairs, baby gates and such. Really great place for first time parents to stock up on the essentials at a really great price. I even saw some Stokke highchairs there, lots of great quality baby carriers such as ergo baby and new baby blankets and sheets. A huge variety of hand bags and shoes although I found most to be in heavily used condition. They have such a large volume of items I still picked up some new never worn items on my hunt.
PRICE
Price is very hit and miss, they use a generic pricing system I assume to deal with the large volume of product they get in and sell. This is a positive and negative, you can definitely find hidden bargains that are under priced such these genuine leather and merino wool Ugg boots.
However I found some items to be really overpriced looking at the condition and comparing to other stores. So you need time to hunt for the treasures. Damaged product will likely be priced the same as non damaged so check for defects carefully.
PRESENTATION & CLEANLINESS
Jalan Jalan Japan clean all the products in-house prior to sale so you won’t find anything unhygienic. I found the clothing had a really pleasant smell. Even my bagged clothes smell great after a couple of days left in the bag. I still saw plenty of stained children’s clothes so some clothing will still need stain treatment. Shoes are much more challenging to clean and are exposed to harsher treatment so you’ll find them pretty dirty however they are to a similar standard in other thrift stores.
The staff keep the store really clean and well organized, it’s one of the best Jalan Jalan Japans I’ve visited. They organized the clothing sections good although not much in the 1 Ringett section was actually marked at 1 Ringett. (Insert Sad Face) The store itself was clean and free from that “Second Hand Shop” smell! I really commend the staff for looking after it. Staff were also helpful and friendly when we asked for assistance.
